Constitution of the Christian Student Foundation

Name

The name of this organization shall be the Christian Student Foundation of Ball State University.

Purposes

The purposes of the Christian Student Foundation shall be:

  1. To promote spiritual growth and commitment to Jesus Christ in Ball State University students.
  2. To proclaim Jesus Christ and His teachings as recorded in the Bible to the campus through evangelism, worship services, Bible studies, service projects and fellowship.
  3. To lead Ball State University students to affiliate with the Church and introduce them to the plea for the renewal of the Christian faith and the unity of the Church as expressed by Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.
  4. To acknowledge the Bible as the Word of God, authoritative for Christian faith and practice.
  5. To respect and complement the pastoral leadership of the Religious Advisor(s)/Campus Minister(s).

Membership

Membership in this student organization is limited to any Ball State University student, faculty or staff who affirms and agrees to the stated purposes of the Christian Student Foundation and is an active participant in worship services and/or Bible studies. An active participant is defined as attending 50% of regularly scheduled worship services or Bible studies in the current academic year. Agreement with the purpose statement is indicated by signing a copy of the purpose statement.

The Christian Student Foundation will not discriminate against any Ball State University student, faculty or staff with regard to attendance at scheduled worship services, Bible studies or fellowship events.

Offices

The officers of the Christian Student Foundation shall be:

  1. President
  2. Vice-President(s)
  3. Secretary
  4. Treasurer
  5. Faculty Advisor
  6. Directors
  7. Religious Advisor(s)/Campus Minister(s)

Section A

The duties of the President, who must be a Ball State student, shall be:

  1. To preside at all business meetings of the fellowship.
  2. To preside at leadership team meetings.
  3. To report to the Board of Directors.
  4. To work with the Religious Advisor(s)/Campus Minister(s) in appointing Standing Committees.

Section B

The duties of the Vice-President(s), who must be a Ball State student, shall be:

  1. In the absence of the president, to preside at all business meetings of the fellowship.
  2. Assist the president in fulfilling listed duties.

Section C

The duties of the Secretary-Historian, who must be a Ball State student, shall be:

  1. To record minutes of the business meetings of the fellowship and leadership meetings
  2. To maintain records of fellowship events and activities.

Section D

The duties of the Treasurer, who must be a Ball State student, shall be:

  1. To receive and disburse funds of the student organization (not CSF Incorporated).
  2. To maintain financial records in keeping with the University and CSF policies.

Section E

The Faculty Advisor shall:

  1. Be a member of the Ball State University faculty or staff.
  2. Attend the Board of Directors meetings and as many fellowship meetings as possible.

Section F

The Board of Directors shall:

  1. Be members of a supporting church in compliance with the by-laws of the Christian Student Foundation, Incorporated.
  2. Be elected by supporting churches in compliance with the by-laws of the Christian Student Foundation, Incorporated.
  3. Oversee budgets and Christian doctrine.
  4. Appoint and supervise campus ministers who will serve as Religious Advisors.

Section G

The Religious Advisor(s)/Campus Minister(s) shall:

  1. Oversee the Officers concerning the purpose and direction of the organization and its leadership.
  2. Provide pastoral leadership for worship services, Bible studies, evangelism & counseling from the perspective of historical, orthodox Christianity based on the Bible.

Elections

Officers (President, Vice-President(s), Secretary, Treasurer) shall be elected annually during the months of January or February. Religious Advisor(s)/Campus Minister(s) and current officers will serve as the nominating committee. Nominations for an officer position are to be submitted to the nominating committee by a CSF member for review so that the final slate of officer candidates can be announced two weeks prior to the election. A majority vote of active members present at the publicly announced meeting shall be necessary for election. Voting by private paper ballot prior to the announced election must be provided for if an active member cannot be present and requests a ballot. Officers shall take office upon election and hold office for one year. All members of the fellowship shall be eligible for election as officers. Officer candidates must indicate their agreement with the CSF Leadership Commitment by signing it to be eligible for election to an office. The Leadership Commitment is available from the CSF office.

Meetings

The meetings of the fellowship shall be held weekly and announced at the beginning of each semester.

Finances

Revenues from student offerings and activities shall constitute the Christian Student Foundation Student Fund and will be administered by the Treasurer. An annual financial report will be made to the Board of Directors.

Committees

Necessary Standing Committees will be appointed by the Religious Advisor(s)/Campus Minister(s) and the President.

Amendments

Amendments may be introduced by any member at any regular meeting and shall require two seconding motions. Two-thirds of the members of the fellowship must approve an amendment by vote during a business meeting or by private ballot prior to the scheduled meeting.

Ratification

Two thirds of the members must approve this Constitution by vote in a business meeting of the fellowship or by ballot prior to the scheduled business meeting. Upon approval, the Constitution will be presented to Ball State University for acceptance.
