lent forum instructions

FIRST AND FOREMOST:
  • as this forum is run by Google Groups you must have a Google account in order to post on this forum. This must be an actual '@gmail.com' account. If you do not already have a Google account, sign-up for FREE here. Again, until you have a free '@gmail.com' account and are signed-in, you will not be able to post. 
  • If you do not wish to sign-up for a Google account, you can take part in our other forum on Facebook. These forums are meant to be identical in purpose. 
  • Once you have a Google account, be sure to sign-in before you navigate back to the forum page. Your Google account does not need to be open, you merely need to have been signed-in.
  • You also can view this forum directly on Google Groups.
inviting new members:
to post a NEW topic:
  • There is a red button at the top left of the forum that says 'New Topic'. Click on this and a posting dialogue comes up where you can type a subject and content of your post.
  • You can also change the type of your post (discussion or announcement), add attachments, or 'cc' the message to someone perhaps not in the group.
  • All new posts will show up on the forum page and will be sent to all members via their Gmail account. If you wish to control how the emails come to you, look below under instructions for 'user settings info'.
to reply to a CURRENT topic:
  • Click on the discussion to which you wish to add a comment, and click either the red 'Post Reply' button at the top left, or in the blank 'Reply' box under the original post (you may have to click the original post to display this box).
  • To help keep posts short, it would be best if you highlight the original post in your reply box and delete it before typing your comments.
  • As with new topics, you have the option to add an attachment or 'cc' your reply to someone.
user settings info:
  • Near the top of the forum, under the search bar, is a box labeled 'My membership'. Click on this to access basic user settings.
  • At the top of the My membership box is a short description of the group. Below that is the email address for the group as a whole. Messages sent to this address go to the entire group via each individual's associated Gmail account.
  • In this box you can also determine the following:
    • How you are notified about new posts (you can receive a notification of each post as it comes in, or you can select for posts to be grouped into a single message before they come to you.).
    • You may link your Google profile, which means your photo will be visible and other users will be able to click on your username and view any info you have made available.
    • You may determine the nickname that is listed next to your posts.
